FEI Solidarity Award 2017

With millions of horses around the world that have retired from racing at a young age and still bearing a lot of potential, the Retraining of Racehorses (ROR) project is an FEI Solidarity programme aimed at educating local horse trainers on techniques in retraining.

The Federation won the FEI Solidarity Award 2017 for their dedication to finding a new purpose for former racehorses, and thus enabling greater access to horses for the development of the sport.

The big picture of this project is to develop equestrian sports in India and get more people riding by providing a larger pool of horses while training riders and coaches on how to produce horses to Elementary level Dressage / 1.10 m Jumping / FEI 1* Eventing.

What started out as a pilot project turned out to be a huge success, which is why FEI Solidarity have trained a group of tutors in South East Asia in 2018 to run a course on how to implement the same reconversion of the horses applied in India the region.
